League Programs PROGRAM: LOCAL STATE NATIONAL Program is the League’s “reason for being” and is the basis of both our education and our action. Program consists of issues that we choose for study and action. League program is based on and authorized by League principles. All issues on our local League program are adopted by vote at our Annual Meetings and must be readopted in the same or amended form, to continue to be part of our program. CURRENT LOCAL PROGRAM: Support for Local Schools Support for a level of taxation adequate to maintain the education program in the Quincy Schools. County Government 1. Support for an overall plan to bring more professionalism and fiscal accountability in county government and to improve communication between the County Board members and elected officials. Establish county manager position Consolidate standing committees to increase efficiency Conduct periodic in-depth audits and make available for public review. Train new board members to increase efficiency 2. Support funding review of not-for-profit organizations with guidelines for eligibility, funding and accountability. 3. Support for reduction in the size of the County Board. ACTION FOCUS: A campaign to eliminate smoking in restaurants in the City of Quincy.
